KI5DX RICHARD (PREV KB5SCK)

galveston  My name is Richard Lenoir..I live in the big city of Paris Tx. I am 39 years old and work in sales at a local manufacturing plant... I got into radio as a kid listening to shortwave..I got my ham license in the early 90's(no code tech) and then passed a 5wpm code test..I used to run alot of VHF and 10 meters...I did get out of radio for several years but in the later part of 2004 I bought a house and put up a couple of antennas and once again the Ham bug bit...I took the general test and passed in december 2004 . On June 25,2005 I passed the Extra class exam. I really enjoy hf, you can catch me on all bands from 160 meters to 70 cm...I still like to do some shortwave listening..

July 20th 2007 I got married to the best girl in the world Christy N5RDJ. I love that girl! I also love live funky Texas blues, old classic country music, classic rock "Maco" my dog , Ham radio,   and the beach. I like to ragchew and chase DX on HF. I do some light contesting and some VHF and UHF FM when the mood strikes.

I also Just put a local UHF repeater up here in Paris. It is on 444.475 pl tone 100. It is still a work in progress and is open to all licensed amateurs.

WE just started a new group here in Paris. We have a bunch of active hams here that really didnt want to do an official club because of past history with the local bunch of whackers.   A bunch of us got together after doing several hamfests and field days and decided to get this thing off the ground. We are not whackers and we all like to have fun with this HOBBY. Dont get me wrong if there was an actual emergency I and most of our group would be glad to step up and help if needed. But really ,  in Paris Texas I doubt any Amateurs would be needed anytime soon. Nonetheless the local authorities know how to get in touch with  us if they need us. Members of our group have put up repeaters out of their own pockets. We have made three hamfests happen now and we have done the  Wednesday night Paris net for almost two years now. We have put on field days with close to 40 people in attendace and our group has been responsible for numerous people getting a license and getting into this HOBBY. For most it seems we have put the fun back into the hobby here locally

I am really glad this New group has been started and restored the name of ham radio to the comunity.   Ham radio really is a great hobby . If you are in the area check out our group at www.paristexasradio.com .
